EXPERIENCE OF THE FORMALDEHYDE SUBSTITUTE NOTOX

''NoToX Histological Fixative'' is a formaldehyde substitute for the f ixation of tissues prior to histological investigation. Intraoperative samples and necropsy tissue were tested. NoToX was substituted for fo rmaldehyde in the fixation step, otherwise the same manufacturer-speci fied protocols were used for all reagents. Conventional histological a nd accepted immunohistological investigations, especially for tumour d iagnosis, were used. In all tests, results with NoToX-fixated tissue w ere similar to those with tissue fixed with formaldehyde regarding bot h staining and diagnosis. NoToX is a useful substitute for formaldehyd e.
