Abstract
The Cu(II) ion is five coordinated in a distorted square-pyramidal geo metry with the four N atoms equatorial and an N-bound isothiocyanate a xial. It deviates from the best plane formed by the four N atoms towar ds the isothiocyanate N atom. The axial Cu-N distance is longer than t he equatorial Cu-N distances. Comparison of the present work with othe r similar complexes reveals some steric effects of the monodentate lig and -NCS- on the coordination geometry.
