Abstract
The X-ray structure of this intermediate compound, tert-butyl pha-(ter t-butylsulfonyl)-beta-(methoxysulfinyl)-3, phenoxybenzyl)oxycarbonyl]- cyclopropanepropionate, shows the configuration of the asymmetric atom s at sites C1, C2 and S1 (C(alpha)C(beta) and beta-S) and allows the m echanism of its formation to be established. The bond distances in the molecule are in the expected range.
