Abstract
The relative stereochemistry of the major synthetic product beta-glyco syl-beta-hydroxy-alpha-amino ester has been established as 2S,6'R. The two molecules of the asymmetric unit adopt a similar conformation whe reby an intramolecular hydrogen bond N-H...O-H fixes the amino ester i n a planar conformation. All intermolecular hydrogen bonds linking A t o A, B to B, A to B and B to A form infinite chains along the a axis.
