Av. Davydov et Yn. Isaev, HIGH-INTENSITY SOURCE OF ELECTRONIC ANTINEUTRINOS WITH WELL-DEFINED PROPERTIES, Physics of atomic nuclei, 59(3), 1996, pp. 459-462
It is proposed to create a source of electronic antineutrinos by using
industrially manufactured radionuclide heat sources (RHS) based on Sr
-90. An assembly of 3000 RHS units, each having a heat power of about
1 kW, will have overall dimensions of about 3.5 x 3.5 x 1.5 m(3). The
antineutrino-flux density from Sr-90 and Y-90 at a distance of 2 m fro
m the center of the setup will be about 2.2 x 10(13)(v) over tilde/(cm
(2)s) behind a 0.85-m-thick lead layer, which protects detectors again
st beta-electron bremsstrahlung and against gamma rays from radioactiv
e impurities. The flux density will reach 10(14)(v) over tilde/(Cm(2)s
) at the cenver of the setup.
