Abstract
A photograph showing the spatial pattern of visible emission from the sheath regions of an Ar de discharge, using a partially covered cathod e, demonstrates the behavior of the energetic electrons, Their beam-li ke character as well as their spreading and penetration into the negat ive glow are clearly demonstrated, as is the cathode glow due to heavy particle excitation.
