The hyperfine constants for the ground and two lowest excited states o
f lithium an calculated in a multiconfiguration Dirac-Fock model. Conv
ergence of the calculated magnetic dipole and electric quadrupole cons
tants is studied as the active set of orbitals is systematically incre
ased. The final results are compared with experimental data and theore
tical values obtained from other methods.
