Abstract
A kinetic method for determination of iodine and iodide ions in air is described. This method is based on the catalytic action of iodine on the oxidation of o-phenylenediamine by hydrogen peroxide in a sulfate medium. The rate of oxidation of the reagent is measured by the photom etry method. In the determination of 0.01-0.3 mg/m(3) of iodine and io dine ions in air, systemic errors are insignificant and the standard d eviation does not exceed 0.16.
