Abstract
The use of Compton scattering for studying the surface layer structure of opaque objects is discussed. A two-dimensional matrix scintillator is used instead of the one-dimensional line-set of detectors for the experimental recording of scattered x-ray quanta. A device based on th is type of detector is described. Images obtained on this device in st udying different test-objects and advantages attributed to the use of the matrix detector are discussed.
