N. Kamiya et al., EXTENSION OF THE ADAPTIVE BOUNDARY-ELEMENT SCHEME FOR THE PROBLEM WITH MIXED BOUNDARY-CONDITIONS, Structural engineering and mechanics, 4(2), 1996, pp. 191-202
This paper presents a construction of adaptive boundary element for th
e problem with mixed boundary conditions such as heat transfer between
heated body surface and surrounding medium. The scheme is based on th
e sample point error analysis and on the extended error indicator, pro
posed earlier by the authors for the potential and elastostatic proble
ms, and extended successfully to multidomain and thermoelastic analyse
s. Since the field variable is connected with its derivative on the bo
undary, their errors are also interconnected by the specified conditio
n. The extended error indicator on each boundary element is modified t
o meet with the situation. Two numerical examples are shown to indicat
e the differences due to the prescribed boundary conditions.
