The processes of formation of antiferromagnetic heterometallic trinucl
ear clusters Cp(2)Cr(2)(mu-SCMe(3))(2)(mu(3)-S)(2)ML(n) (ML(n) = Re(CO
)(NO), W(NO)(2), W(NO)Cl, and W(NO)(SCMe(3))) from the antiferromagnet
ic binuclear chromium(III) complex Cp(2)Cr(2)(mu-SCMe(3))(2)(mu-S) (1)
and nitrosyl-containing halide derivatives of Re-I and W-0 were consi
dered. It is shown that adducts of 1 with ML(m) (ML(m) = Re(NO)(CO)(2)
Cl-2, W(NO)(2)Cl-2 . 1, and W-2(NO)(2)(CO)(4)I-2) are formed at the fi
rst stage. Then they loose the CpCrHal(2) moiety and transform into th
e reactive remetalation products, CPCr(mu-SCMe(3))(2)(mu-S)ML(x) (M =
Re and W). The latter complexes join the electron-deficient CpCrS moie
ty to generate triangular clusters. The magnetic behavior of antiferro
magnetic adducts and triangular clusters is discussed, and the existen
ce of correlations between the energy of spin-spin exchange (-2J(Cr-Cr
)) and Cr-Cr and Cr-S(sulfide) bond lengths is mentioned.
