Structural investigations on 4BO(3) type perovskite dielectric resonat
or (DR) compounds, namely (Ba0.29Sr0.71) (Zr0.973Ti0.027)O-3 [BSZT] an
d (Ba0.29Sr0.71)(Zr0.951Ti0.039Ta0.01)O-3 [BSZTTa] were carried out us
ing X-ray Rietveld method. The structures were found to be isostructur
al with SrZrO3 and belong to the space group Pbnm. In both the structu
res, the tilt angles of the BO6 octahedra were lower than that in SrZr
O3. The volume of the octahedron was comparable for all the three. Whe
n Ta was substituted in BSZT, dielectric resonator properties of the r
esulting product BSZTTa improved substantially.
