Proximal demyelinisation is a common pathophysiological feature in acu
te inflammatory demyelinating polyneuritis, chronic inflammatory demye
linating polyneuropathy and in multifocal motoric neuropathy. The diag
nosis of this peripheral nerve disorder with classical electroneurogra
phy is not always successful. We demonstrate the data of motor evoked
potentials and somatosensoric evoked potentials as a diagnostic tool i
n these immunneuropathies. Evoked potentials are more reliable than cl
assical electroneurography. Motor evoked potentials are more sensitive
than SEP. A proof of proximal demyelinisation is earlier possible wit
h evoked potentials. We recommend the use of this diagnostic tool in p
olyneuropathy.
