Abstract
A protocol is presented for direct polymerase chain reaction (PCR) amp lification of DNA from chicken nucleated red blood cells. Chicken bloo d in EDTA was found to have a strong inhibitory effect on the PCR. Con sequently, PCR using this protocol should be performed only on a narro w range of blood volumes, from 0.125 to 0.25 mu l.
