Abstract
The present paper is an attempt to relate the etiology of 54 cases wit h diseased/deceased ostriches to criterions of keeping, feeding, clima te and infectious diseases. Despite the fact that some of the damages diagnosed seem to be avoidable the criterions of the law for the preve ntion of cruelty to animals are not to be fullfilled since the adverse climatic circumstances in Germany.
