Abstract
Medetomidine @ 30 mu g/kg body weight alone and with pentazocine lacta te @ 2 mg/kg body weight in atropinized dogs induced tachycardia and f all in respiration rate but rectal temperature was not affected signif icantly. Medetomidine alone produced profound sedation and analgesia, and medetomidine-pentazocine lactate combination induced surgical anae sthesia for 36.5+/-2.10 min. Animals recovered uneventfully in either group.
