Abstract
We examine the motion of an isolated spherical colloid particle with a dynamic Stern layer, subject to an oscillating electric field, and ob tain the electrophoretic mobility correct to O(zeta). It is shown that the Stern layer results are formally similar to those for thin double layers. From this, an approximation is derived for the Stern layer co ntribution to the conductivity and mobility of particles with thin dou ble layers and high surface potentials.
