P. Tierney et al., RECURRENT ASPERGILLOMA OF THE FRONTOETHMOID SINUS IN A NONIMMUNOCOMPROMISED PATIENT, Journal of the Royal Society of Medicine, 89(3), 1996, pp. 165-166
Management of invasive aspergillosis of the paranasal sinuses requires
sufficient experience to initiate appropriate investigations and then
utilize the correct treatment protocol. Computed tomography (CT) or m
agnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is essential to show the extent of the
disease and diagnosis is confirmed by histological analysis. Aspergil
lus flavus is a ubiquitous soil saprophyte in the Sudan and is respons
ible for many cases originating from this area. The literature is revi
ewed and treatment options discussed.
