Km. Cieslicki et K. Krzeminski, POROUS SLEEVE BEARINGS - AIR AND OIL PERMEABILITY, International journal of powder metallurgy, 32(2), 1996, pp. 175-183
Experimental results on permeability are given for the flow of air and
oil through porous sleeve bearings. For air, the flow characteristics
are simpler than for oil and the flow rate is higher However, due to
air compressibility and inertial effects, the pressure - flow relation
is non-linear and the calculated static permeability depends on an im
posed pressure drop. In contrast, the flow of oil through a porous sle
eve bearing under a constant pressure drop is generally of a non-stati
onary nature, and the calculated permeability is a function of time. M
utual relations between permeability values calculated from the air an
d oil flow characteristics are presented.
