Abstract
Quantum chemical calculations have been carried to gain insight into t he self-association of dimethylsulfoxide (DMSO), the interaction of DM SO with a solvent, and the protonation of DMSO. Different species that may be present in DMSO solutions have been modeled semiempirically.
