The purpose of this study was to investigate whether experienced shoot
ers would benefit from using the Five-step Strategy while performing i
n their shooting environment. Experienced shooters (N=24) were randoml
y assigned to one of two conditions, the Five-step or a control. Absol
ute and variable errors were analyzed by 2 x 4 (groups x trial blocks)
analyses of variance with repeated measures on trial blocks. Subjects
in the group using the Five-step Strategy performed significantly bet
ter than the control group in both accuracy and variability of shootin
g performance.
