A method is presented for calculating the dimensions of a column appar
atus and the process parameters of continuous counterflow leaching of
a soluble impurity in a dense moving bed of an inert polydisperse mate
rial. The kinetics of leaching is modeled in the approximation of the
diffusion model of longitudinal mixing. A method for solving the probl
em is demonstrated, taking into account the longitudinal mixing of the
solution in the bed, the polydispersity of solid particles, and the v
ariation of the mass-exchange rate along the vertical extent of the ap
paratus. The adequacy of the model is verified experimentally in a lab
oratory apparatus 0.207 nt in diameter and 3.0 m in height.
