Abstract
The pseudobinary system RbOH/RbI was investigated by X-ray methods. Th
e crystal structure of Rb(2)J(OH) was solved by single crystal data: R
b2I(OH): Pnma, Z = 4, a = 7.748(1) Angstrom, b = 5.654(2) Angstrom, c
= 13.254(2) Angstrom Z(F-o) with (F-o)(2) greater than or equal to 3 s
igma = (F-o)(2) = 449, Z (parameter) = 25, R/R(w) = 0.021/0.023 Rb2I(O
H) crystallizes in a new type of structure, built up by a three dimens
ional network of (3)(infinity)[Rb-2(OH)(+)] containing the iodide ions
