The reactions of 1,1-dimethylhydrazine and 1-methyl-1-phenylhydrazine
with cumene hydroperoxide (CumOOH) catalysed by 5,10,15,20-tetraphenyl
porphyrinatoiron (III) chloride [TPPFe (III)Cl] in the absence or pres
ence of N-methylimidazole gives 21-methyl- and 21-phenyl-5,10,15,20-te
traphenylporphyrins in moderate yields respectively. Reactions of 1,1-
dibenzyl and 1,1-diphenylhydrazines with cumene hydroperoxide catalyse
d by TPPFe (III) CI do not form 21-benzyl- or 21-phenyl-5, 10,15, 20-t
etraphenylporphyrin respectively, but form the corresponding mu-oxodim
ers and tetrazines.
