Abstract
The karyotype of the endemic species G. wasiliewi from Lake Baikal is described. 26 chromosomes were detected in the diploid set and 13 chro mosomes in the haploid one. The karyotypic formula is 2m + 2m + 2st 2st + 2st + + 2st + 2st + 2sm + 2sm + 2st + 2st + 2m + 2m. Probably, t he karyotype of this species originated due to doubling of the set of 6 pairs of chromosomes. An express-method of making the temporary slid es, that enable to define the suitability and optimal conditions for t he treatment of material for karyological analysis is briefly describe d.
