Abstract
The effect of addition of barium, tin and silver, at the expense of bi smuth, on the transition temperature and structure of the Bi-Sr-Ca-Cu- O system has been studied. A comparison of the results with that of le ad added samples indicates that ability of lead in enhancing the super conducting phase formation is unique. It is observed that none of the above additives replaces Bi3+ ions in the lattice structure.
