Ma. Alhusain, MAJOR CHROMOSOMAL-ANOMALIES IN CHILDREN REFERRED FOR SUSPECTED CHROMOSOME-ABERRATIONS - A REPORT OF 1,327 CASES, Medical science research, 24(3), 1996, pp. 175-176
The cytogenetic finding in 1,327 children ranging from newborns to 12
years of age referred with a variety of clinical disorder was used to
investigate the possible presence of chromosomal abnormalities. Such a
nomalies were found in 271 (20.4%) of the cases studied. There was a s
ignificantly high rate of chromosomal abnormalities (p < 0.01) in comp
arison to an unselected population (0.48-0.55%). This study provides t
he first report of a cytogenetic survey of children with suspected gen
etic disorders in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
