CHARACTERIZATION OF STREPTOCOCCUS-PORCINUS SEROGROUP-P ISOLATED FROM AN ABORTED FETUS OF A PIG

Streptococcus porcinus is an aetiological agent of streptococcal lymph adenitis and a cause of porcine pneumonia or septicaemia. This organis m can be isolated from the lymph nodes of apparently healthy pigs. The cultural, serological and biochemical data presented here, together w ith the antibiotic resistance pattern, have allowed the identification and further characterisation of S. porcinus. This might clarify the r ole played by this species in pig infections and abortions.
