The 5' region of the 39-kDa rat phosphoribosylpyrophosphate synthetase
-associated protein (PAP39) gene was isolated and sequenced. The promo
ter region of the rat PAP39 is GC-rich and contains potential binding
sites for regulatory factors. Its promoter activity was demonstrated b
y transfection of the promoter region in fusion with the chloramphenic
ol acetyltransferase gene into rat pheochromocytoma PC12 cell.
