Z. Qin et al., MASS YIELD DISTRIBUTION OF TARGET RESIDUES FROM THE INTERACTION OF IRON WITH 135-MEV U C-12 IONS/, High energy physics & nuclear physics, 19(3), 1995, pp. 223-231
Production cross sections of target residues have been measured from t
he interaction of iron with 135-MeV/u C-12 ions, using nuclear chemist
ry techniques. Mass yield distribution was deduced from the measured c
ross sections on the basis of a Gaussian charge distribution function,
We found that yields at A < 30 mass region in this reaction were much
higher than those in the reaction of 46 MeV/u C-12 + Cu, and those pr
oducts were partial to neutron-excess, The experimental results were c
ompared with calculations based on the statistical fusion fragmentatio
n model and the modified sequential binary decay model, respectively.
It seems to indicate that multifragmentation is one of the dominated r
eaction mechanisms responsible for production of the fragments with ma
ss number of A < 30 at this incident energy.
