Abstract
This article reviews the aspects of intestinal adaptation that likely are related to nutrients in general and to glutamine, short-chain fatt y acids, and nucleotides in particular. Current understanding allows u s to apply the techniques of molecular biology to understand the conse quences of nutrient delivery (or lack of delivery) to the intestinal m ucosa.
