Ap. Smith et al., RAPID RESOLUTION OF NECROLYTIC MIGRATORY ERYTHEMA AFTER GLUCAGONOMA RESECTION, Journal of surgical oncology, 61(4), 1996, pp. 306-309
A 55-year-old man presented with an 11-year history of necrolytic migr
atory erythema and glossitis. After the patient's serum glucagon was d
emonstrated to be elevated, computed tomography scan revealed a mass i
nvolving the head of the pancreas. The patient underwent a Whipple-typ
e pancreatico-duodenectomy and his rash resolved completely 6 days aft
er tumor resection. He received no adjuvant treatment. A discussion of
the varying theories regarding the pathogenesis and treatment of gluc
agon-associated necrolytic migratory erythema is presented. (C) 1996 W
