Abstract
The title compound, C12H24O6, was synthesized and subjected to an X-ra y structure determination. The aim of this structure analysis was to d etermine the relative orientation of two vicinal ethoxy groups in its precursor, diethyl 3R,5R,6R)-5,6-diethoxy-5,6-dimethyl-1,4-dioxane-2, 3-dicarboxylate, from which the title compound can be generated by a r eaction that retains the absolute configuration of the molecular skele ton.
