The magnetophonon resonance in p-CdSb single crystals [p similar to(2.
5-10.0) X 10(15) cm(-3)] was investigated. Magnetophonon oscillations
were observed in the transverse magnetoresistance and in the Hall effe
ct with different orientations of the magnetic field H with respect to
the axes of the crystal (a, b, c) in fields H < 370 kOe at temperatur
es 55-125 K. It was established that for the orientations H parallel t
o a and H parallel to c the current carriers interact effectively with
two longitudinal optical phonon modes and for orientations H parallel
to b with three longitudinal optical phonon modes. Comparison of the
phonon frequencies determined from the magnetotransport data and from
infrared reflection spectra revealed modes which interact effectively
with charge carriers. The appearance of magnetophonon oscillations of
the Hall voltage is explained by the failure to satisfy absolutely the
strong magnetic field condition. (C) 1996 American Institute of Physi
