The synthesis and crystal structure of tri-tert-butylphenyl)phosphaned
iylmethyl]-benzene, L, are reported as well as the preparation and con
formation of the novel seven-membered ring complex [PdLCl(2)]; this co
mplex reacts with alcohols (MeOH, EtOH) to give achiral cyclometallate
d complex [rac (R)P, (R)C; (S)P, (S)C] where the metal is bound to bot
h a phosphaalkene and a phosphite phosphorus atom.
