Abstract
Several formulas based on the cavity model and the transmission-line m odel are combined to produce closed-form expressions for calculating t he bandwidth of probe-fed rectangular microstrip antenna elements with various thicknesses and various relative permittivities of substrate materials. The formula takes into account the effects of radiation and conductor and dielectric losses, with their quality factors. The resu lts obtained from this technique confirm those calculated from the MSA nt program of Pozar [19], and measured results. (C) 1996 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
