Ca. Hall et Ta. Porsching, A CHARACTERISTIC-LIKE METHOD FOR THERMALLY EXPANDABLE FLOW ON UNSTRUCTURED TRIANGULAR GRIDS, International journal for numerical methods in fluids, 22(8), 1996, pp. 731-754
Finite-difference-like discretizations are developed for the time-depe
ndent Navier-Stokes equations and the thermal energy equation on Delau
nay triangulations of the how domain. The flow is assumed to be therma
lly expandable; that is, the density varies only with temperature. A c
haracteristic-like (CL) method is used to discretize the temporal and
convective terms. The dual variable method reduces the size of the dis
crete system by a factor of five.
