Abstract
The crystal structure of Nb(eta-C(6)H(5)Me)(2) (1), prepared by co-con densation of niobium metal atoms with toluene vapor, has been determin ed. The toluene rings lie parallel to one another one another on eithe r side of the niobium metal center (Nb=C=2.334(5) Angstrom av.), with methyl groups almost perfectly eclipsed. Crystal data for 1 (At -50 de grees C): orthorhombic, space group Pbcn, a=13.706(3),b=11.977(2), c=1 3.753(3) Angstrom,V=2257.6 Angstrom(3),D-calc=16.31 g cm(-3),Z=8,R=0.0 421,R(w)=0.0612.
