The ruthenium(II) complex cis-[Ru(bpy)(2)(npp) (Cl)](+) where bpy=2,2'
-bipyridyl and npp=4-(N-pyrrolyl) pyridine has been isolated from the
reaction between cis-dichlorbis(bipyridine)ruthenium and 4-(N-pyrrolyl
) pyridine and precipitated as the tetrafluoroborate salt. 270 MHz H-1
and C-13 NMR studies have been used to characterise this novel ruthen
ium complex together with IR and Raman data. The 270 MHz H-1 NMR spect
ra of 4-(N-pyrrolyl)pyridine and cis-[Ru(bpy)(2)(Cl)(2)] have also bee
n recorded.
