The results of an IR spectroscopic study of the dilute ethanol solutio
ns in liquid hydrides of group IV-VI elements in the temperature range
from boiling point T-b of the hydride up to 290 K (250 K for silane)
are given. Similar to ethanol solutions in conventional organic solven
ts, the ethanol impurity in hydride solutions is presented as monomers
, dimers, and more complex aggregates. The spectral parameters of corr
esponding bands are measured. It was found that interaction between et
hanol and silane or germane molecules in the liquid phase is nonspecif
ic (van der Waals) in nature, but in ethanol solutions in liquid PH3,
AsH3, H2S, and H2Se weak H bond formation takes place. The energy of t
his specific interaction is estimated.
