K. Nakatani et al., ELECTROCHEMICAL STUDIES ON MASS-TRANSFER OF FERROCENE DERIVATIVES ACROSS A SINGLE-NITROBENZENE-MICRODROPLET WATER INTERFACE/, Journal of physical chemistry, 100(16), 1996, pp. 6749-6754
Mass transfer processes of ferrocene derivatives (FeCp-X) across a sin
gle-nitrobenzene-microdroplet/water interface were studied by laser-tr
apping and microelectrochemical techniques. Substituent effects of FeC
p-X on the mass transfer rate were discussed in terms of the distribut
ion coefficient of FeCp-X between the nitrobenzene and water phases as
well as of the adsorption rate of FeCp-X on the droplet/water interfa
ce. Interfacial mass transfer of ethylferrocene from water to a drople
t was limited by diffusion of the molecule in the water phase, while t
hat of 1-ferrocenylethanol or (N,N-dimethylamino)methylfenocene was go
verned by both adsorption on the droplet/water interface and diffusion
in the water phase.
