Abstract
A simple method is presented for the preparation of small silica spher es with a diameter of about 32 nm with a well-defined shape and smooth surface, The method comprises the dilution of an aqueous sodium-silic ate solution with excess ethanol, The resulting alcosols are convenien t seed solutions for the Stober silica synthesis.
