Nl. Rymes et al., ABRUPT CESSATION OF IMMUNOSUPPRESSION IN A PATIENT WITH PERSISTENT ACUTE LYMPHOBLASTIC-LEUKEMIA FOLLOWING ALLOGENEIC TRANSPLANTATION, Clinical and laboratory haematology, 18(1), 1996, pp. 45-46
A 20-year-old man with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia (ALL) in second c
omplete remission underwent sibling donor transplant, Post-transplant
there was haematological and immunophenotypic evidence of persisting d
isease. Cyclosporine was abruptly discontinued and following this the
leukaemic clone disappeared. Discontinuation of immunosuppression may
be of benefit in leukaemia which persists following transplant.
