Abstract
A new type of rime series model, the AVD model which accommodates the Acceleration, Velocity and Displacement simultaneously, has been used to estimate the characteristics of nonlinear single and multi-degree o f freedom systems with dry Coulomb friction, viscous damping and nonli near stiffness. Numerical results via simulation are compared with tho se from a Fourier transform method, which suggests that the AVD model is a powerful technique for nonlinear system parameter identification.
