A potentiometric study on ligand-ligand interactions in aqueous soluti
on, is reported. The formation and stability of pyridine- sulphate, ox
alate and hexacyanoferrate(ll) complexes has been investigated in the
ionic strength range 0 less than or equal to 1 less than or equal to 0
.4 mol dm(-3) and at T = 25 degrees C. The results obtained showed tha
t the complexing ability of protonated pyridine towards polyanions is
similar to that of aliphatic amines and depends mainly on the charges
involved in the formation reaction.
