M. Corbetta et al., EMPIRICAL-EQUATION FOR CALCULATING THE CHARGE INVOLVED IN THE PREPARATION OF MERCURY MICROELECTRODES, Annali di chimica, 86(1-2), 1996, pp. 77-86
A procedure is described to obtain an empirical equation linking the c
harge, Q, concentration, C, and electrolysis time, t, involved in the
preparation of mercury microelectrodes from solutions containing mercu
ry (I) ions. The empirical equation obtained is valid in the concentra
tion and electrolysis time ranges varying between 1.10(-4) - 1.25.10(-
2) M and 50-3000 s, respectively. The usefulness of the equation in pr
edicting the appropriate coefficient k of the steady state limiting cu
rrent at the mercury microelectrodes: i(ss) = knFDCr is shown by compa
ring theoretical and experimental data obtained from test solutions of
[RU(NH3)(6)]Cl-3.
