Low-energy quantum calculations are carried out for electrons scatteri
ng by CF4 molecules in their ground electronic stales. The correspondi
ng elastic cross sections (rotationally summed) are obtained as integr
al quantities and as angular distributions, i.e., differential cross s
ections (DCS), over a range of collision energies from approximate to
3 eV up to 35 eV. The exact static exchange (ESE) results compare well
with experiments and with previous calculations. The inclusion of a m
odel polarization potential is shown to generally improve results, esp
ecially at low collision energies and in the small-angle scattering re
