Column and batch experiments were performed to study the migration beh
aviour of Ba and Sr in colemanite matrix. Ba-133, Sr-90 and H-3 were u
sed as tracers. The retardation factors and the distribution ratios of
Ba and Sr in column experiments were found to be smaller than those o
btained in batch experiments. Sorption R(d) values of Ba were higher t
han those of Sr determined by both techniques. Sorption energies calcu
lated from batch experiments are in good agreement with the literature
values.
