J. Prieur et al., AERODYNAMIC AND ACOUSTIC CALCULATIONS OF TRANSONIC NONLIFTING HOVERING ROTORS, Journal of the American Helicopter Society, 41(2), 1996, pp. 17-26
Results from an Euler and a Full Potential Solver are compared for a n
onlifting transonic hovering rotor, The correlation is very good on th
e blade, but the aerodynamic disturbances are damped by the Pull Poten
tial Code off the blade tip, The ability of both codes to provide near
-field input data for acoustic predictions using Lighthill's Acoustic
Analogy is checked, Acoustic results using Euler input data show a fai
rly good correlation with experiment and with direct Euler far-field c
alculations, even in the case of delocalization, On the contrary, the
precision of the Full Potential results is insufficient for that purpo
se, and further work is needed to improve the code's stability and acc
uracy off the blade.
