By using multifactor variance analysis of data obtained in a series of
similar experiments, it was established that the factors to be taken
into account in introducing azospirilla include the stage of microbial
succession in the soil, the inoculation dose, and the strain variabil
ity of azospirilla. Seed inoculation with azospirilla can enhance both
positive and adverse effects imposed on plants by microbial successio
n in the soil. Population dynamics and inoculation efficiency were sho
wn to strongly depend on the state of the soil microbial community at
the moment of Azospirillum introduction.
